Connecting Google is optional. Vital asks for read-only access so it can import your available health records and display them in the Watch tab. It does not change records in your Google account.
After you authorize access with Google, Vital saves imported measurements to your private journal. These records support daily summaries, date-range charts and history shared between the web and Android apps.
Data availability depends on your watch, its synchronization with Google and the permissions you grant. Missing readings and unavailable scores are shown as unavailable, not estimated.
Read the privacy policy →Daily steps, distance and total energy burned populate your activity summaries and trend charts.
Heart-rate summaries, resting heart rate and heart-rate variability, when available, let you review changes in your recorded measurements over time.
Sleep duration and available awake, REM, light and deep sleep durations provide a previous-night breakdown and sleep history.
Google account authorization is separate from signing in to the private Vital journal. Google handles consent; Vital never receives your Google password. Access tokens let Vital retrieve authorized records and refresh the connection.
In Vital Settings, you can pause Google imports, change the history start date or disconnect Google. You can also revoke access from your Google account connections.
Imports refresh recent days and catch up on older history while the web app is open or Android can run its background job. Network, sign-in and battery availability can delay updates.
Disconnecting stops new imports but keeps records already saved in your journal. The privacy policy explains storage, service providers, retention and deletion.
